about

Regional Science Centre, established in the temple city of Bhubaneswar on 8 acres of land, was dedicated to the nation on 18th September, 1989. This Centre is one of the 26 science centres/science museums under the network of National Council of Science Museums, an autonomous council under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
The Centre aims at inculcating scientific temper and popularizing science & technology amongst people of all walks of life, students in particular,in the state of Odisha through exhibits, exhibitions, special shows and educational programmes. At present, there are three galleries. They are :

Popular Science Gallery

Apart from these, there is a Science Park with a number of interactive outdoor exhibits and a Prehistoric Life Park comprising animated dinosaurs models synchronized with a story-telling light & sound show.

Objectives

To portray growth of Science & Technology and their applications in human welfare with a view to develop scientific attitude & temper and to create, inculcate and sustain a general awareness of science among the people
To design, develop and fabricate science museum exhibits, demonstration equipment and science teaching aids for science education and popularization of science
To popularize science and technology in the state of Odisha for the benefit of students and common people by organizing exhibitions, seminars, popular lectures, science camps and various other programmes
To supplement science education imparted in schools and colleges
To organize training programmes for science teachers / students / young entrepreneurs / technicians / handicapped and others on specific subjects of science, technology and industries

Regional Science Centre was set up in the temple city of Bhubaneswar in the year 1989 envisioning a place for communities where children and adults get inspired by science, understand its basic principles through hands-on exhibits in a fun-filled way and quench their thirst of scientific knowledge and understanding.The Science Centre promotes and aims at igniting scientific curiosity and innovation through interactive and engaging exhibits, exhibitions, activities and programmes, not only for urban masses but also for children and adults residing in rural areas of Odisha.
